Job Description:

SUMMARY:

Operates a 5-ton box/straight truck and provides delivery services for collection of HAZMAT to and from the HMSO center. This includes deliveries as well as pick up in accordance with task in the Performance Work Statement and all applicable Army and DoD Transportation regulations and standards. Work is conducted on Fort Novosel but could include work at off-post locations.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Collect unserviceable hazmat from airfields. Load and/or unload truck with or without helpers. Perform operator-level maintenance. Service Parts Washer Operate material handling equipment (MHE), hand trucks and provide forklift services as applicable for the loading, unloading, coordinating movement, stock, store and issue of HMSO material. Verify that equipment is loaded and unloaded in accordance with the load/unload plan and in good working condition. Secure cargo and equipment in accordance with OSHA and DOT Safety Regulations. Processes products ordered through AIRBUS for LUH aircraft, order and process local purchases to meet mission requirements. Performs routine checks and minimum services on approximately eighty (80) petroleum part washer machines. Provide reports and statistical data for transportation services.
Hours of work 7:30AM -4;30PM (M-F)
NON-ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Other duties as assigned/approved by management.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

This job has no supervisory responsibilities.
Requirements:

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

High School diploma or equivalent
Must have 1-3 years of experience in truck driving with 1 year of experience with Hazardous Materials
Must have a CDL with hazmat endorsement with Medical Card . May be required to obtain a material handling license.
Must be trained and certified in accordance with requirements of 29 CFR Part 1910.120, 29 CFR Part 1915.1200, 40 CFR Part 265.16 and 49 CFR Part 172.704
Must be able to read and comprehend military publications and apply requirements to job duties .
Must wear proper PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) -Safety Shoes are required and are a condition of employment . The employee must start work on day 1 with the appropriate safety shoes .
LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Ability to read, comprehend and explain instructions, letters, memos, emails, and correspondence from inside the organization as well as from external sources. Ability to effectively respond, communicate and present information to customers, internal and external, clients and other employees in the organization . Ability to interpret instructions and information and explain to others in the performance of this job in English.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Extensive physical activity. Requires strenuous physical work; heavy lifting, pushing, or pulling required of objects over 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Must be able to physical operate a box/ straight truck .

WORK ENVIRONMENT/HOURS:

Job is performed in a box/straight truck and in prevailing weather conditions expose to toxic chemicals and safety hazards. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Work will be performed outdoors during which the employee will be exposed to ambient environmental conditions at the time . Will require having flexed hours to accommodate for mission requirements to include weekends and Holidays.

EXPECTATIONS:

Must be a U.S. citizen. Reliable transportation to/from work is a necessity. Must be able to maintain proper state registration, proof of insurance, and a valid driver's license to operate Privately Owned Vehicles (POV) on a military installation. As a condition of employment, must have acceptable background check results and pass a pre-employment drug screening. This position may be subject to random drug and/or alcohol testing on an unannounced basis . Timely and precise timesheet entries are essential for maintaining our records and ensuring smooth operations. Additionally, please remember to dress appropriately for your shift and be punctual.
