Position Description
Summary
Responsible for providing students with the skills and knowledge
necessary to pass the written portions of the state operator's license examination. Provides assistance to
students who need a driver's operating license with completion of state required paperwork for driving
permit and works with contracted driving school operator(s) to schedule behind-the-wheel driving sessions.
Essential Functions
1. Provides classroom driver's education para-instruction that meets state-mandated requirements.
2. Assists students with prior offenses in re-establishing their eligibility and securing a license prior
to completion in accordance with State mandates and laws.
3. Assists students in completing the paperwork necessary to apply for and obtain a state driver's
permit license.
4. Schedule students ready for behind-the-wheel driving with the contracted driver school
operator(s).
5. Provides transportation or arranges for Center to provide transportation of the student to the
state Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) to complete their behind-the-wheel driving test for
operating license issuance.
6. Works with the Purchasing Agent/Buyer in Finance to ensure fees associated with permits and
driving classes are processed.
7. Ensures that all student test results and progress are documented and recorded using the
automated Center Information System (CIS).
8. Maintains up-to-date skills in field of specialty through available sources such as publications,
formal study programs, and in-service training.
9. Models, mentors, and monitors the positive normative culture of the center.
10. Acts as a responsible custodian for assigned center property.
11. Reports violations of unethical behavior.
12. Suggests opportunities for continuous operational improvement and reduction of waste.
13. Identifies and reports environmental health and safety concerns as they may occur in their
classroom areas.
14. Ensures drivers/staff are educated and updated on all transportation/driver-relevant information.
15. Able to maintain 75% or higher on employee scorecard.

Requirements
Required Education & Experience
• Appropriate certifications and licenses in state of employment or equivalent
• Professional licenses and accreditation by professional trade organization (required)
Certifications/Competencies
• Ability to complete all mandated training requirements per government and management directives
• Ability to deal with a variety of staff and students in a professional manner in diverse situations
• Timely completion and accuracy of all departmental work
• Ability to promote the Career Success Standards (CSS) by modeling appropriate behaviors,
mentoring students when necessary, and monitoring both positive and negative behaviors through
interventions
• Strong organizational skills
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Computer proficiency
Minimum Eligibility Qualifications
• If the position requires driving, a valid driver's license in the state of employment with an acceptable
driving record is required
• I-9 documentation required to verify authorization to work in the United States
• Successfully pass a pre-employment (post offer) background check and drug test.
