We are seeking a Lowboy Truck Driver that will play a critical role in transporting heavy equipment and machinery safely and efficiently.
Job Responsibilities
• Operate and drive lowboy trucks to transport heavy equipment and machinery to designated locations.
• Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the truck and trailer to ensure safety and compliance with regulations.
• Secure loads using chains, binders, and other appropriate equipment to prevent shifting or damage during transport.
• Plan routes and schedules to ensure timely delivery, considering factors such as traffic, weather, and road conditions.
• Maintain accurate logs of working hours, vehicle service, and repair status in compliance with DOT regulations.
• Communicate effectively with dispatchers, clients, and other team members to coordinate delivery schedules and address any issues.
• Perform routine maintenance and minor repairs on vehicles as needed to ensure optimal performance.
• Adhere to all safety regulations and company policies while operating equipment and during loading/unloading processes.
• Assist in loading and unloading heavy equipment using appropriate machinery such as cranes or forklifts, if required.
• Provide exceptional customer service by ensuring deliveries are made on time and equipment is handled with care.
Job Requirements
• Valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with appropriate endorsements for lowboy operations
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in operating lowboy trucks
• Clean driving record with no major violations or accidents
• Ability to safely load, secure, transport, and unload heavy equipment
• Knowledge of DOT regulations and compliance requirements
• Proficient in using GPS and other navigation tools
• Strong understanding of vehicle maintenance and inspection procedures
• Ability to lift and maneuver heavy objects as required
• Excellent communication skills for coordinating with clients and dispatchers
• Willingness to work flexible hours, including nights and weekends, as needed
• High school diploma or equivalent education level
Work Environment
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to a variety of extreme conditions at construction sites. The noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud. The position regularly works near moving mechanical parts and in outside conditions that include inclement weather, heat and humidity, and exposure to dust and asphalt. Don safety equipment as required by the client (hard hat, safety glasses, gloves, respirator, hearing protection, safety harness with lanyard, etc.). As required by client's site; must be clean, shaven and able to work while wearing a respirator and other personal protective equipment. Works from heights in a variety of manners (ladders, lifts, harnesses, etc.).
Physical Demands
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The position lifts heavy objects, walks and stands for long periods of time and performs strenuous physical labor under adverse field conditions. The employee lifts, pushes, pulls or carries objects; uses abdominal and lower back muscles to provide support over time without fatigue; and effectively jumps, sprints or throws objects. The position requires good manual dexterity (hand, hand with arm, two hands) and multi-limb coordination. The position requires the ability to quickly move arms and legs. The employee must have excellent stamina. Must be able to work extended hours on your feet on uneven surfaces (dirt, concrete, asphalt, mud, gravel, etc.).
