Description

The Sr. Account Manager oversees the operation of multiple dedicated accounts. The Sr. Account Manager builds and maintains relationships with drivers and customers and develops strategies that improve productivity and increase overall profitability. The Sr. Account Manager is a mentor / coach with experienced drivers and with a non-driver team to assist with careers. The Sr. Account Manager will directly manage the work of professional drivers. The Sr. Account Manager is responsible for P&L management and may manage other non-drivers. The Sr. Account Manager is responsible for one or more locations and/or dedicated accounts.

Responsibilities:
Provides oversight and direction to team members and drivers on assigned accounts.Accountable for the P&L for assigned accounts.Responsible for Operations management and oversightDedicated account performance management & reportingProject management and implementation of strategic initiativesSupervise account managers and/or Fleet Managers for assigned accounts (hire, promote, coach, develop, and manage performance)Monitor, Approve, & Streamline driver payroll.Retention and Turnover managementManage KPI's for all team members.Promoting and supporting Safety 1st cultureDuties to include Fleet Management, Customer Service, and Load PlanningProvide Training and Participate in Cross Training to ensure account coverage is maintained at an acceptable level at all times.Receive ETAs and PTAs and manage throughout the day.Receive confirmations of load assignments.Manage and solicit business from a specific or assigned number of customers by using daily available capacity.Negotiate freight rates with customers that do not have contract rates.Commit to and receive detailed customer load information by telephone, fax, or electronic tendering.Input all load information into computer system accurately to ensure system integrity.Maintain good measurable items to indicate how well the team/account is performing.Make sound decisions to increase revenue and decrease costs.Decrease deadhead percentage and provide on time pickups for customers.Manage utilization of trucks and trailer pools to ensure minimum amounts of available equipment.Increase on time home time percentage for drivers through proper planning.
Qualifications:
Knowledge of driver payrollAbility to manage people effectively.Knowledge of DOT regulations and Driver HOS necessaryAbility to demonstrate a prominent level of proficiency in Microsoft Office ProductsAbility to effectively communicate verbally, in writing, and electronically.Ability to work in a fast-paced and always changing environment.Ability to organize well and manage multiple projects requiredBachelor's degree required and/or 8+ Years equivalent experience in Business, Logistics, or other closely related field.Lean Certification or other CPI certifications preferred.8+ years management experience or other similar leadership role preferred.3+ years transportation industry experience required

Covenant's compensation philosophy's intent is to use a competitive total compensation strategy to determine the current market value of a position while also considering individual factors such as performance in current position, time in seat of current position, experience, level of responsibility/accountability, and longevity with the company. The system will be objective and non-discriminatory.

Pay Range: $59,092.80-$88,836.80

Pay Grade: 9
